REC BOUNCE BACK
After the disappointing result and performance Dunmurry Rec bounced back with a victory over Drumaness Mills. Gary Hewitt, Chris Kerr, Steve McDonnell, John Ansley and Barry Tumilty all returned to the team while new signing Sean Napier made his debut. On a windy, cold day it was the Rec who made the better start forcing 2 saves off the Mills keeper in the opening 7 mins. On 12 mins Ricky Rutherford just failed to connect with a cross from the right. Despite playing into the wind the Rec were passing the ball well but not creating much with Drumaness certainly providing a threat up front. On 17 mins a Mills attacker headed wide form a corner. On 27 mins Ricky Rutherford burst through 1-1 with the keeper but his shot was well saved by the keeper. On 34 mins the lively Neil Corr set up Ricky Rutherford but he shot tamely from 16 yards. Then on 37 mins following sloppy play at the back a Mills player burst into the box and was upended by Gary Hewitt for a penalty which was duly converted. Then unbelievably on 41 mins a free kick was floated into the box and a header from 16 yards looped over Chris Kerr, with the help of the wind and into the top corner.
HT Dunmurry Rec 0-2 Drumaness
One minute into the second half the Rec fight back began when Barry Tumilty won the ball in midfield and released Ricky Rutherford and the big striker fired home off a post. On 48 mins Sean Napier stung the keepers hand after being set up by Neil Corr. On 49 mins Barry Tumilty broke through on the right and his cross was headed over his own cross bar by a Mills defender. On 57 mins McErleane fired a low drive from just inside the box which the keeper pushed round the post. It was all Rec at this stage and on 65 mins a double substitution saw Anto Walsh come on for Sean Napier and John Ansley come on for Neil Corr. At last on 61 mins the equaliser when Barry Tumilty picked up a ball deep in the Mills half, strode forward and thumped a 20 yard shot into the top left hand corner. On 75 mins John Ansley set up Dee McErleane at the back post but his first time volley was well saved. On 78 mins the Rec took the lead when a quick corner by Walsh found McParland and he coolly curled home from all off 20 yards. Anto Walsh just failed to connect before the Rec made the game safe with Ricky Rutherford waltzing into the box, around the keeper and slamming the ball into the roof of the net.

MANAGERS COMMENTS
All credit to the players today as they demonstrated a real desire today to not only get a result but to put on a performance. It was a banana skin game as Drumaness had nothing to lose and came and had a go, went into the break 2-0 up and to be fair worked hard for each other. That was a real test for the players but at half time they were very confident of turning it around and they did. After last weeks debacle I left numerous players out of the squad and those that came in certainly did the business. Full backs McErleane & McDonnell both did very well. Rutherford and Corr were lively and McParland scored a belter. Man of the Match goes to Barry Tumilty who controlled the midfield, set up 2 goals and scored a cracker himself. Sean Napier had a good debut and it was great to see John Ansley back after his long injury layoff. The game was played in good spirit with not one bad tackle in the match so credit to the players from both teams. Next up its Comber away with 3 more vital league points up for grabs.
